Chopard Happy Sport

My Role

For the Chopard project, a specialized implementation of INSPIFY Inverse, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my skills as the Frontend Lead. The project's goal was to showcase Chopard's Happy Sport collections to the Korean market in 2022. My responsibility was to determine the technical stack and the architectural approach for integrating an Unreal Engine application into the website. The tools at my disposal were HTML/CSS, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux, ThreeJS, Unreal Engine PixelStreaming, Styled Components, React Query, WebSocket API, HTML5 Video, GSAP, and AWS S3.

Challenge

The primary challenge of this project was integrating a 3D application, produced by Unreal Engine, into a web environment. This was a relatively uncharted territory, as such integrations were rare and documentation or precedents were scarce. The difficulty lay in adapting a tool not originally designed for web use into a seamless, web-based experience.

The solution I proposed and implemented with my team was groundbreaking. We successfully ran the Unreal Engine application on the website, achieving a flawless and responsive performance, even on mobile devices. This success was not just a technical triumph; it represented a new frontier in web-based 3D applications, showcasing our ability to overcome technical barriers and deliver innovative solutions to our clients.

Achievement

The Chopard project under INSPIFY Inverse culminated in a remarkable achievement: the website was nominated for Best Metaverse, Virtual Retail & Shopping 2023 by The Webby Awards. This nomination was not just a recognition of the website's technical excellence and innovative design, but also a testament to our team's ability to push the boundaries of virtual retail and shopping experiences. It underscored our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that redefine how brands interact and engage with their audiences in the digital space.
